Colmac Coil is seeking a Controls Engineer to develop PLC-based controls for the heat transfer products we manufacture. The role blends desk work designing electrical schematics and PLC/HMI programs with hands-on assembly support, testing, and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical Engineering or a related 2-year degree with manufacturing experience, plus knowledge of PLCs, ladder logic, HMI, and Allen-Bradley CompactLogix.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering preferred. A related 2-year degree with demonstrated manufacturing experience will be considered.
• Basic knowledge of PLC programming, ladder logic, and HMI operation is required with Allen-Bradley CompactLogix preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and understand control circuits, relays, signals, and control devices.
• Ability to troubleshoot using schematics, PLC diagnostics, and test instruments; follow safety procedures.

Responsabilités

• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, component lists, and PLC/HMI programs for new and existing products.
• Define operating sequences, I/O requirements, alarms, and protective interlocks; select and configure PLCs, VFDs, actuators, sensors, and related components.
• Support product wiring and panel assembly; troubleshoot electrical and programming issues with assembly and testing personnel.
• Perform and document functional testing of I/O, sequences, HMI functions, alarms, and interlocks before shipment.
• Maintain drawings, program backups, revision records, and documentation; support field service with startup and issues.
• Apply electrical standards and safe work practices; other controls duties as assigned.
• Based on experience, may lead controls design, set programming standards, and mentor teammates.
