Job summary

Job Summary

Responsible for operating assigned equipment used in executing metal finishing operations by performing the following duties:

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Loads and unloads tote pans of parts, stacks parts in baskets, racks and/or barrels, racks, unracks, cleans, etches, desmuts, pickles, bright dips dyes, degreases, heat treats, plates, coats, wet processes, and dries parts. Uses electric hoists and manual lifting.
  • Following prescribed procedures for processing.
  • Fills baskets, racks, and/or barrels with parts to be processed and lowers material into the appropriate tank.
  • Removes parts when the process is completed.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of tanks and work areas.
  • Monitors the temperature of solutions.
  • Maintains daily production logs.
  • Physically inspects processing to ensure the quality of the product.
  • May be required to perform general utility work, material handling, assist with chemical handling and solution maintenance, and record keeping as needed.
  • May be asked to troubleshoot simple to moderate problems.
  • Is responsible for the quality of the product produced.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school or general education degree (GED); or equivalent months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems requiring several concrete variables in standardized situations.
