Job summary

Johnsonville Sausage, LLC seeks an IT Platform Solutions Engineer to configure and sustain the company's IT platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, and security. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable infrastructure and robust observability, while driving automation and secure-by-design practices across environments.

The role requires 5+ years in platform engineering, cloud (AWS/Azure) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), with a strong

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in CS/engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years of IT platform engineering experience.
Experience with cloud platforms and containerization.

Responsibilities

Configure, deploy, and maintain IT platforms across servers, storage, networking, and virtualization.
Implement and optimize hardware and software configurations for performance and scalability.
Define and improve observability (metrics, logs, traces, health checks, alerts).
Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and remediate inefficiencies.
Collaborate with security to embed security by design and defense-in-depth practices.
Identify and mitigate vulnerabilities with the security team.
Engineer automation for provisioning, configuration, remediation, and routine tasks.
Maintain configuration management and desired-state tooling for consistency and compliance across environments.
Create and maintain documentation for configurations, processes, and procedures.
Respond to and resolve platform-related issues with support teams and vendors.
Participate in on-call rotation for incident readiness.
