Job summary

Gusto is seeking a senior, project-driven professional to lead reconciliation and internal controls across products and entities. You will partner with Engineering, Product, Accounting, and Finance to design and implement scalable systems, mentor analysts, and drive cross-functional projects end-to-end in a regulated, high-stakes environment.

You will own cross-functional initiatives, raise the team’s capabilities with reusable AI workflows, and set standards for how work is done.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related analytical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 4–6 years in financial services, banking, fintech, payments, or accounting operations with experience scaling reconciliation or processes.
• Strong understanding of payment systems and money movement (ACH/NACHA, card networks, bank file formats like BAI2 or MT940).
• Ability to use SQL and data analysis to drive root-cause and derive insights.
• Proven use of AI to build durable automations and workflows with measurable impact.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, stand up, and scale reconciliation and control infrastructure across products and entities.
• Lead audit remediation workstreams with auditors and internal teams.
• Own cross-functional projects, frame problems, define success metrics, and drive to resolution.
• Partner with Engineering and Product to build scalable reconciliation tooling and detect root causes.
• Build reusable AI workflows and mentorship to uplift the team.
