Job summary

Nourish is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead Platform Engineering, owning infrastructure reliability and scalability while accelerating developer velocity. Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on engineering management experience.
• Experience hiring engineers and managing performance, promotions, and career development.
• Able to write PRDs, understand product bottlenecks, size opportunities, and drive progress.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of 4–5 engineers with strong ownership.
• Coach engineers through regular feedback, career development, calibration, and performance management.
• Scale the team through recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
• Stay hands-on through architecture, pair programming, coding, reviews, and on-call.
• Set the vision and roadmap with engineering leads, security, IT, and cross-functional partners.
• Drive design decisions around system reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Establish team rituals: sprint planning, OKR planning, quarterly planning, retrospectives.
• Operate with urgency in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
• Set technical direction for systems supporting business-critical work.
