Job summary

Panorama Education seeks a Senior Engineering Manager, Platform to lead foundational capabilities such as shared services, core infrastructure, developer tools, and operational standards to keep the platform robust and scalable for growth and AI workloads.

You will partner with product leadership to align technical direction with strategic goals, oversee on-call/SRE practices, and drive security/compliance, monitoring, and cross-team collaboration to support secure, efficient infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years software engineering experience, including 5 years managing engineers.
• Proven ability to lead senior and staff engineers with clarity and trust.
• Hands-on technical credibility with AWS; Terraform and Kubernetes experience a plus.
• Experience partnering with product teams to deliver shared roadmaps and coordinating across engineering, security, and operations.
• Disciplined in delivery, scope management, and defining completion criteria.
• Focus on developer experience improvements such as CI/CD and internal tooling.
• Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks like SOC 2 and FERPA, with data protection expertise.
• Experience with scalable monitoring and observability.
• Understanding of AI workload infrastructure demands and integration of AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of senior and staff platform engineers, setting clear expectations and providing direct feedback.
• Guide technical decisions on architecture, infrastructure, and system design, focusing on high-impact work.
• Manage platform delivery from planning to production, defining and maintaining platform health metrics.
• Develop strong operational practices including on-call and incident management with SRE.
• Collaborate with AI platform and security teams to ensure infrastructure supports AI capabilities securely and efficiently.
• Work with product management to shape and prioritize the platform roadmap.
• Represent platform engineering in cross-team initiatives and provide leadership with transparent updates.
• Ensure platform capabilities comply with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements, especially regarding student data.
