Job summary

REALM is building autonomous software for engineering teams in New York. As a Platform Engineer, you’ll own backend services and data systems that power AI agents, product integrations and customer deployments.

You’ll design data schemas, implement TypeScript services, and connect agents to customer environments with secure authentication. Expect significant Kubernetes infrastructure work, observability, and ownership from day one.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in backend or platform engineering
• Strong TypeScript and production Kubernetes experience
• Strong systems design and data modelling skills
• Heavy daily use of AI tools in your workflow
• Bonus: OAuth or API gateways, OpenTelemetry, Kafka or ClickHouse, or LLM and agent systems

We’re partnering with a venture-backed AI startup in New York building autonomous software for engineering teams. Their AI agents investigate production issues, find root causes and ship fixes. They’re backed by a top-tier Series A and are hiring a Platform Engineer to build the foundations the company runs on.

The role:

You’ll own the backend services and data systems that the AI agents, product and customer integrations depend on.

What you’ll do:

• Design the schema, storage and access patterns for the data the agents rely on
• Build backend services in TypeScript on top of that data
• Develop the integration layer connecting agents to customer environments, including authentication
• Improve service infrastructure on Kubernetes, including deploys and observability

What we’re looking for:

• 3+ years in backend or platform engineering, ideally at a startup or AI-native company
• Strong TypeScript and production Kubernetes experience
• Strong systems design and data modelling skills
• Heavy daily use of AI tools in your workflow
• Bonus: OAuth or API gateways, OpenTelemetry, Kafka or ClickHouse, or LLM and agent systems
• Small team with real ownership and direct access to the founders
• Frontier agentic AI work on a product engineers relate to
• Meaningful early-stage equity alongside a strong base

Compensation: $200,000 to $300,000 base, flexibility to go higher for exceptional candidates, plus equity

Location: On-site in New York City
