Job summary

Qualifications

• Deep experience in one of: version control internals, CI systems, or judgment under a schedule; working knowledge of the other two
• Ability to explain Git rebase effects on commit identity, recover deleted branches, verify cherry-pick results by content, and describe squash merge queue history
• Experience building tooling on top of Git
• Experience with merge queues, required checks, event-trigger semantics, app-based authentication, concurrency controls, and self-hosted runners
• Ability to identify and quantify causes of slow or flaky pipelines
• Ability to read Bazel queries and build profiles
• Experience working in Python and shell with REST and GraphQL APIs
• Ability to communicate milestone scope and make schedule-based judgments
• Bonus: developer-infrastructure work under hard deadlines in silicon, aerospace, or games
• Bonus: repository structure at scale, including monorepo or polyrepo
• Bonus: familiarity with EDA flows
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to work from the Mountain View offices Tuesday-Thursday
• Must be able to perform job functions in compliance with U.S. export control laws without obtaining a license from U.S. export control authorities

Responsibilities

• Define and operate branch and release methodology, including branch purpose, change promotion, and verification
• Keep EDA-heavy CI test suites fast, affordable, and reliable
• Diagnose CI failures and performance problems
• Instrument release and CI systems so their state is visible through reporting
• Own protected release branches, rulesets, presubmit checks, notifications, and branch-specific failure modes
• Make branch landing status and change propagation answerable through reports
• Mechanically reconcile versions across source builds, archived release artifacts, and downstream consumers
• Run continuous drift detection and expose results
• Perform critical-path analysis and assess remote-execution behavior under resource limits
• Size runner pools and manage CI costs
• Triage flakes through resolution rather than reruns
• Open and review pull requests, incorporate feedback, and reject incorrect changes
• Improve tooling and documentation used by other engineers
• Verify completed work by ensuring changes are pushed, CI is green, and resulting state is checked
• Update runbooks and add preventive checks for durable fixes
• Tell leadership what is and is not included in milestones
