Job summary

Cloudflare seeks a Systems Engineer for the Product Platform Tools team. You will design and operate backend services, infrastructure, and APIs powering internal support and admin platforms at enterprise scale, collaborating with engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

You’ll ramp quickly into unfamiliar codebases, harden security and authorization, and contribute to observability and developer experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and operating production backend services.
• Strong proficiency in Go and/or TypeScript.
• Experience in platform engineering or internal tooling.
• Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, RBAC or similar security mechanisms.
• Ability to ramp quickly in unfamiliar legacy codebases.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate backend services, infrastructure, APIs, and integrations for Cloudflare's internal platform.
• Onboard internal apps onto the platform with scalable, well-governed integration.
• Collaborate with non-engineering stakeholders—Support, Legal, and Security—to meet operational needs.
• Own and improve the platform's security and authorization posture at scale.
• Ramp quickly into legacy codebases and improve reliability across systems.
• Participate in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews to raise reliability.
• Contribute to observability, developer experience, and engineering standards.
