Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Systems Engineer for the Product Platform Tools team. You will design and operate backend services, APIs, and integrations powering an internal support platform used company-wide.

You’ll collaborate with engineering, Support, Legal, and Security to onboard apps, improve governance, and drive reliability at scale. You should bring 5+ years building production backends, strong Go/TypeScript skills, and a security-first mindset for authentication and access control.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience building and operating production backend services at enterprise or large-scale organizations.
• Strong proficiency in Go and/or TypeScript.
• Experience with platform engineering, internal tooling, or support/admin systems.
• Deep understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and policy-based access control.
• Proven ability to design and operate scalable, reliable systems for large internal audiences.
• Ability to collaborate across Engineering, Security, Legal, and non-technical teams.
• Comfort with unfamiliar/legacy codebases and incremental improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication to translate technical details to stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker in production; cluster ops, networking, debugging.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate backend services, infrastructure, APIs, and integrations for Cloudflare's internal platform.
• Onboard internal apps from engineering teams onto the platform with scalable, well-governed integrations.
• Collaborate with Support, Legal, and Security to meet operational needs and governance standards.
• Own and improve the platform's security and authorization posture at scale.
• Ramp quickly into unfamiliar codebases and reduce operational toil for reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive post-incident reviews for reliability.
• Contribute to observability, developer experience, and engineering standards across teams.
