Job summary

Basta is seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to own architecture for the Seekr platform and be the trusted technical anchor for engineers, product, and leadership. This high-ownership role shapes the platform’s architecture, reliability, and evolution while serving thousands of first-generation students.

You will ship weekly production code (Python/FastAPI, Postgres, Next.js/Celery), manage DevOps, and mentor the team in a small, high-trust environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production software and systems
• Deep backend/platform experience with ownership
• Experience shipping end-to-end features in production
• Fluency with AI development (LLMs, embeddings) in real apps
• Excellent communication and ability to mentor others

Responsibilities

• Own backend and platform architecture, APIs, data flows, distributed processing, and infra choices.
• Ship production code weekly across the stack (Python/FastAPI, Postgres, Next.js/Celery) with AI integrations.
• Lead architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and drive quality through code reviews.
• Collaborate with the CPTO on technical strategy and product roadmap.
