Job summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.

You will interview donors, review medical histories, and work with the Center Medical Director on donor questions. You will review test results, counsel donors on reactive results, and escalate urgent cases per SOPs.

Qualifications

• Graduation from paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine suitability to donate plasma.
• In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, respond to medically related questions and provide information to staff on donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may affect donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required.
