Job summary

CSL in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking a qualified Medical Donor Center Specialist to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis, administer approved immunizations, and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.

You will conduct donor interviews, health assessments, review tests, and counsel donors on reactive results, while maintaining confidentiality and OSHA/HSE procedures.

Qualifications

• Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program or medical school.
• Foreign medical degree only if licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT in the state.
• Minimum of one year experience in a health care environment or clinical experience from a vocational or nursing program.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.
• Ability to instruct donors, staff and community regarding the benefit of plasma donation programs.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for evaluation of donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and administration of approved immunizations.
• Promotes positive customer relations with all donors.
• Conducts confidential interviews with donors to obtain information regarding suitability to donate plasma.
• Responds to medically related questions from staff regarding donor suitability.
• Performs medical history reviews and health assessments on donors and assesses test results for donor suitability.
• Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results and refers to community facilities for follow-up.
