Job summary

CSL Vifor in Dalton, GA seeks a healthcare professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures, interview donors, review medical histories, and determine eligibility to donate plasma.

Under general supervision, provide limited emergency medical care, notify and counsel donors about reactive tests, and escalate critical cases to the Center Physician or local medical services as required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine donor eligibility to donate plasma.
• In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, respond to medically related questions and provide information on donor suitability.
• Review test results and determine continued donor suitability; assess donor symptoms that may prevent donation.
• Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results; refer donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
• Provide routine care following SOPs; escalate critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required

Education

Paramedic / Nursing / PA training

Medical school / naturopathic training

State licensure or certification (RN / MD / DO)

Minimum 1 year healthcare experience

Experience in plasma/blood center preferred
