Job summary

Qualifications

• Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program or medical school required.
• Completion of a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school and only if also currently licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT in the state.
• Minimum of one year experience in a health care environment or one year of clinical experience from a vocational or nursing institution.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.
• Ability to instruct donors, staff and community regarding the benefit of plasma donation programs

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Administer immunizations and supervise immunization programs.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
• Promote positive customer relations with donors.
• Conduct donor interviews to obtain information on suitability to donate plasma.
• Respond to medically related questions with Center Medical Director/Center Physician.
• Review donor screening results and lab tests for initial/continuing suitability.
• Explain informed consent and immunization schedules to donors.
• Maintain emergency kits and follow SOPs for routine care.
• Record donor data accurately in the electronic system.
• Maintain confidentiality of donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
