Job summary

CSL Plasma center in Houston is seeking a qualified medical professional to evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures and provide limited emergency care to donors and staff. You will interview donors, review medical histories, and collaborate with the Center Medical Director on suitability questions.

Responsibilities include reviewing test results, counseling donors with reactive findings, and referring to community facilities for follow-up, while following SOPs and escalating

Qualifications

• Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school or naturopathic medical training program.
• If graduation is from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must also currently be licensed as a physician or state certification as an emergency medical technician
• For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD or DO in the state you are applying for work or in a reciprocal state
• Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a health care environment
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures under general supervision.
• Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
• Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine plasma donation suitability.
• Collaborate with Center Medical Director on donor suitability inquiries.
• Review test results to determine continued donor suitability and assess symptoms.
• Counsel donors on reactive test results and refer to community facilities for follow-up.
• Provide routine care following SOPs and escalate critical medical situations as required.
