Job summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a qualified medical professional to evaluate donor suitability for pheresis and supervise immunizations at a donor center. You will provide limited emergency care, maintain donor confidentiality, and ensure compliance with SOPs and safety policies.

You will conduct donor interviews, review medical history and test results, and communicate with the Center Medical Director on complex cases. Experience in a regulated plasma/blood setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program or medical school required.
• Completion of a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school and only if also currently licensed as a physician or certified as an EMT in the state.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in a health care environment or one year of clinical experience from a vocational or nursing institution.
• Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
• Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.
• Ability to instruct donors, staff and community regarding the benefit of plasma donation programs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
• Administers and supervises approved immunizations.
• Provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
• Promotes positive customer relations with all donors.
• Conducts confidential donor interviews to determine suitability for donation.
• Responds to medically related questions with Center Medical Director/Center Physician.
• Performs medical history reviews and health assessments of donors.
• Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results and referrals.
• Explains informed consent including procedures, hazards, immunization schedules, and consent forms.
• Handles medical emergencies and checks emergency kits as needed.
• Reviews test results to determine donor suitability and adheres to four-month SOPs.
• Assesses signs that may prevent continued donation.
• Manages hepatitis B and influenza immunization programs.
• Oversees donor immunization programs and reviews antibody titers when required.
• Ensures accurate donor data entry into the electronic system.
• Maintains a clean work environment and compliance with HSE and OSHA policies.
• Maintains confidentiality of personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual abilities may be required.

Education

Foreign medical schooling with current license or EMT certification
