Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility and manage donor safety in a plasma collection center. The role reports to the Center Manager and works under medical supervision for clinical issues.

Requirements include RN/NP/PA licensure, CPR/AED, state IV therapy qualifications, and at least two years in a clinical or hospital setting. The position offers comprehensive benefits and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and arrange medical emergencies including center physician standing orders and donor transport to care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical/technical issues.
• Support vaccination programs for Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and follow EHS guidance; serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.
