Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Towson, MD is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, review test results, and assist with donor safety under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: RN, NP or PA.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; proper informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and arrange medical emergencies with Center Physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Possibly serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations.
