Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is seeking a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, review lab results, and manage donor safety at our Tulsa center under supervision of the Center Manager and Center Physician.

You will support vaccination programs and ensure compliance with regulations in a fast-paced donor-center environment, delivering high-quality care and safety for donors and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified EMT-Paramedic in the responsible state.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) at the facility per SOPs and arrange medical emergencies per standing orders.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation with EHS guidance.
• Potentially serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS.
