Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Jacksonville, FL to support plasma center operations and donor care. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor safety, review lab results, and coordinate with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs on medical issues, under the Center Manager’s guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing education as per state requirements.
• EMT-Paramedic license required in the assigned state.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility incl. informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical exam, blood testing, SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and manage medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and coordinate with Occupational Health/EHS for further evaluation.
• Possibly act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
