Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee a plasma collection center in Texas. The role ensures donor safety, regulatory compliance, production goals, and profitability while you may operate the center during absences.

Lead and coach Supervisors, manage budgets, and implement action plans to maximize efficiency and quality. You will align with FDA/CGMP standards and maintain accurate records and donor relations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Science, Business, Nursing, Finance, or related field
  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience in clinical or general business experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in a medical and/or cGMP regulated environment preferred
  • Experience with plasma or whole blood preferred
  • Developing command of leadership, organizational, customer service, interpersonal communication, and computer abilities
  • Ability to understand and assess FDA regulations
  • Ability to maintain adequate levels of plasma collection and adhere to quality standards
  • Ability to motivate staff to achieve established goals and standards

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operational performance of a plasma collection center
  • Ensure donor safety, regulatory compliance, production goals, performance, and profitability
  • Act on behalf of the Center Manager during absences and potentially manage the center alone for days at a time
  • Collaborate with Training and Quality staff to meet training and quality goals
  • Coach and lead employees through Operations Supervisors
  • Monitor and evaluate operations; develop, implement, and modify action plans to maximize efficiency
  • Manage personnel functions including hiring, work assignment, direction, development, training, discipline, termination, and personnel records
  • Partner with the Center Manager on budget preparation and oversee facility operations to achieve production and quality targets within agreed costs
  • Delegate, monitor, and hold Operations Supervisors accountable
  • Direct and supervise employees, including creating and managing work schedules
  • Maintain the ability to perform all center tasks and fill production roles when needed
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and equipment working order
  • Oversee freezer management, plasma shipments, equipment failures, and freezer alarms
  • Develop and implement donor recruitment advertising campaigns
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, and cGMP
  • Direct donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records to maintain production standards
  • Build donor rapport and support long-term donation and customer satisfaction
  • Control donor funds and ensure accurate financial records
  • Inform the Center Manager of irregularities and develop corrective action plans
  • Conduct risk-management reviews, investigate unsafe situations and complaints, and implement corrective actions
  • Direct and monitor outside vendors
  • Review and monitor special projects for accuracy and timely completion
  • Work with the Center Manager to implement the donor center's mission in the community

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Science, Business, Nursing, Finance, or related field
  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience in clinical or general business experience

  • Experience in a medical and/or cGMP regulated environment preferred
  • Experience with plasma or whole blood preferred
  • Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of stated requirements
  • Developing command of leadership, organizational, customer service, interpersonal communication, and computer abilities
  • Ability to understand and assess FDA regulations
  • Ability to maintain adequate levels of plasma collection and adhere to quality standards
  • Ability to motivate staff to achieve established goals and standards
  • May be required to relocate
  • Ability to work in an office and/or laboratory/manufacturing environment with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, extreme cold, chemicals, moving machinery, production equipment, and high noise levels
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to sit for 6-8 hours per day and perform repetitive hand movements
  • Ability to occasionally walk, bend, and twist neck
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 35 lbs
  • Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States
  • Ability to communicate complex information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to work independently with little guidance and plan work schedules to meet goals
  • Ability to interact with diverse groups and obtain consensus on issues
  • Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues
