Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services, a Takeda subsidiary, is hiring a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) in Pearland, TX. You will determine donor eligibility, monitor donor safety, review lab results, and coordinate with the Center Physician to ensure medical and regulatory compliance.

The role requires CPR/AED certification and EMT-Paramedic licensure, plus state-mandated nursing program credentials. This position is full-time and on-site at a Texas plasma donation center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
• Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) and manage emergencies per SOPs, including donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER with EHS guidance.
• Potentially serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemics.
