Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Burleson, TX seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations and donor safety. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review test results, and notify donors of unsuitable findings.

You’ll work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, familiar with plasma collection regulations and EHS guidance. The role requires LPN or LVN licensure, CPR/AED certification, and 2 years of clinical experience,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state of responsibilities: LPN or LVN.
• CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing SPE.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s), per SOPs, including donor transport to emergency care facilities in emergencies.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
• Pandemic Coordinator role when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
