Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Saint Ann, MO, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, review lab results, and notify donors of unsuitable tests. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician to support center operations.

Responsibilities include managing donor reactions, emergencies per SOPs, vaccination programs, and occupational health considerations, with a focus on donor safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a recognized nursing program per state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state of responsibility: LPN or LVN (per state requirements).
• CPR and AED certification current.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of clinical or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history, and physical examination.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and physician standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER evaluation.
• Refer to EHS guidance for employee incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
