Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Mankato, MN is seeking a Medical Support Specialist to support plasma center operations. You will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results under physician guidance.

You’ll assist with vaccination programs and incident reporting, with responsibilities across clinical readiness, safety, and compliance in a fast-paced center environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalence of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-B, EMT-A, EMT-I, EMT-P, LPN/LVN, RN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility; ensure informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and follow medical emergency procedures including transport to care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine need for occupational health/ER guidance; follow EHS guidance.
• Can act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemics.
