Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Baton Rouge seeks a part-time Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, review test results, and manage donor safety under the Center Manager and Center Physician. The role requires an LPN/LVN license, CPR/AED, and at least two years in a clinical setting.

You will support center operations, investigate donor results, and assist with medical guidance under BioLife Medical Affairs, while adhering to industry regulations and EHS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus completion of a recognized nursing program.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties are assigned: LPN or LVN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance criteria, physical exam, blood testing, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reaction(s) and manage medical emergencies following SOPs and standing orders.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine if further occupational health evaluation is needed, referencing EHS guidance.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations related to pandemic threats.
