Job summary

Nestlé USA is seeking a Plant Utility Systems Operator to keep critical utility equipment running safely and reliably. You will operate, monitor, and maintain boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, and water/steam systems while coordinating with maintenance and contractors.

The role requires 2–3 years' experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a boiler/operator license. Weekend/overtime work is required, with ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of experience operating, repairing, and maintaining utility systems (boilers, refrigeration, HVAC, water/steam)
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • State Boiler Operator or Stationary Engineer license
  • Ability to complete refrigeration training within 2 years
  • Ability to work off-shifts, weekends, overtime, and extended shifts as needed
  • Preferred: ammonia refrigeration & electrical controls; RETA CIRO certification

Responsibilities

  • Operate, start up, adjust, and shut down plant utility systems (steam, boilers, refrigeration, HVAC)
  • Monitor gauges and alarms to maintain safe pressures, temperatures, and levels
  • Perform routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance
  • Respond to alarms and troubleshoot to restore systems safely
  • Repair electrical and mechanical components (valves, pumps, motors, controls)
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for complex repairs and major projects
  • Maintain logs and documentation of readings and activities
  • Communicate system conditions and risks to leaders and teams
  • Follow safety, quality, environmental, and housekeeping procedures
