Job summary

SGMC Health seeks a skilled Plant Operator for the SGA Engineering department to maintain and optimize hospital utility systems on the Main Campus. You will supervise HVAC, power, and mechanical networks to ensure uninterrupted patient care and regulatory compliance.

This role requires a strong background in HVAC and industrial maintenance, a minimum 5 years in a similar plant operation, and certification in emergency power systems; hands-on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and coordination

Qualifications

• Requires completed vocational HVAC program or equivalent with hands-on maintenance experience.
• Minimum 5 years in physical plant, electrical, and/or mechanical operations.
• Certification in Emergency Power Supply Systems required and experience with boilers/generators.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor temperature, humidity, and plant loads to optimize chiller operation.
• Maintain emergency power supply and fuel systems, perform inspections and testing of generators and ATS.
• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on pumps, AHUs, compressors, and control systems.
• Coordinate projects, communicate needs to supervisor, and ensure safe, compliant operation.
