Job summary

Bryan College Of Health Sciences seeks an Energy Plant Operator to manage boilers, chillers and auxiliary systems. You will perform preventive maintenance, monitor equipment via CMMS, and coordinate with hospital staff to ensure reliable, safe operations.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of steam generation, heating, air conditioning, water conditioning and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and precautions related to energy plant operations.
  • Knowledge of codes governing energy plant production and operation.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software relevant to work functions.
  • Skill in maintenance and operation of energy plant equipment, materials and tools.
  • Skill in portable tools, electrician tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to inventory supplies and order items.
  • Ability to perform under stressful and emergency situations.
  • Ability to assist in installation of ductwork and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to identify equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to interpret sketches, diagrams, blueprints, instructions, and specs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to conduct crucial conversations with desired outcomes.
  • Ability to establish/work with all levels of personnel and medical staff.
  • Ability to problem solve with independent critical thinking.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Commits to mission, vision and core values.
  • Monitors and controls operation of boilers, chillers, towers and pumps.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs per CMMS.
  • Interfaces with hospital personnel, patients and vendors.
  • Selects equipment based on load and outdoor conditions; operates per standards.
  • Monitors equipment via software; tests and inspects regularly.
  • Completes preventative maintenance on schedule.
  • Performs outages repairs on steam, chilled water and AHU systems.
  • Responds to alarms; prioritizes patient safety and comfort.
  • Records operating conditions and logs changes; logs calls for work.
  • Reads meters, computes consumption and logs data per shift.
  • Follows safety programs including lockout/tagout.
  • Assists with elevator maintenance and service calls.
  • Responds to after-hours calls as needed.
  • Completes cleaning and tool maintenance tasks; maintains clean work area.
  • Follows MSDS for testing products and waste disposal.
  • Uses safety devices and follows emergency procedures.
  • Responds to calls outside Energy Plant and decides actions.
