Job summary

Airgas in Lansing, MI is hiring for a Plant Operator I - Scndry role focused on safe handling and production of packaged gas cylinders. You will load, sort, and move cylinders, operate a forklift, and ensure accurate labeling and containment procedures.

Responsibilities include safety checks, documentation, and adherence to Airgas and government standards. The role emphasizes precision, teamwork, and readiness to work in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift (training may be provided).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure team alignment.
• Ability to read material safety data sheets and maintain a secure environment.
• Regularly handle cylinders and perform safety checks per procedures.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload gas cylinders and products onto/off trucks and trailers using proper carts.
• Sort empty cylinders by type and inspect for hazards.
• Operate forklift for movement of cylinders on pallets.
• Label cylinders correctly and prepare high-pressure/cryogenic cylinders for filling.
• Maintain paperwork to meet DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards.
