Position:
This role focuses on the safe and reliable operation of a renewable natural gas (RNG) plant. The plant operator will maintain communication between plant personnel and local landfill staff, support plant operations, construction, and well field tuning. Responsibilities include interfacing with SCADA/HMI systems, conducting analytical tests, and performing technical maintenance to support plant operations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensure safe and reliable operations, maintenance, and support activities for the RNG plant in a landfill setting.
• Record, analyze, and utilize plant operation data to optimize performance.
• Maintain plant operations within safety standards and regulatory compliance.
• Troubleshoot, repair, operate, and replace equipment, including preventative maintenance.
• Maintain instrument calibrations and well field database records.
• Conduct sample collection, testing, and analysis for process control.
• Monitor and adjust well field to maintain gas output and quality.
• Assist operational staff in identifying well field issues promptly.
• Support engineering staff with construction planning and gas collection expansion.
• Maintain positive relationships with plant and landfill personnel.
• Ensure adequate staffing and professional communication with stakeholders.
• Report adverse plant events to stakeholders.
• Perform other duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience with landfill gas to energy or LFG to RNG.
• 1-3 years of experience in chemical or gas processing.
• 1-3 years of experience in landfill operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical college degree or vocational training preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Leadership qualities, including managing priorities, organizational skills, relationship management, and team building.
• Self-motivated, able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays (up to 10%).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
