Job summary

National Gypsum Company is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager through its Manufacturing Management Development Program (MMDP). You will support plant operations, safety, quality, cost, and productivity goals while progressing toward senior leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities include assisting in all plant management functions, coordinating with management on strategic goals, and ensuring safe, compliant production. Relocation and travel may be required up to 10% of the time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years direct manufacturing management experience.
• Experience as a production manager or equivalent in a continuous manufacturing process.
• Proven ability to build successful work teams, lead, motivate and develop great people.
• Proven Hands‑on style of management and strong MS Excel usage; SAP experience a plus.
• Ability to work independently and within a team to generate results.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Assistant Plant Manager in all plant management functions.
• Collaborate with plant management to set strategic goals and production targets.
• Oversee operations in the absence of the Assistant Plant Manager.
• Ensure a safe working environment through safety training and inspections.
• Assist Production Department to meet product quality specs and manufacturing metrics.
• Assist supervision of Production Department Team Leaders and Shipping Department staff.
• Support the Quality Assurance Program including material and finished product testing.
• Ensure certifications (UL, FM) requirements are met for applicable products.
• Facilitate implementation of process control systems.
• Support budgeting of raw material usage and reporting accuracy.
• Lead special projects and promote a ONE TEAM culture.
• Travel to other PermaBASE facilities up to 10% of the time; relocation openness.
