National Gypsum Company, headquartered in Charlotte, NC, seeks a training Plant/Process Engineer to learn under an experienced Plant Engineer, ensuring proper installation and maintenance of plant equipment for safe, efficient operation. The role offers relocation to another NGC plant within 6–24 months, with a clear path to a leadership position as a process/plant engineer.

A BS in Engineering and at least two years of manufacturing experience are preferred, with PLC, AutoCAD, and electrical

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering; Electrical preferred or equivalent training/experience.
• Minimum of two years manufacturing experience.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming, AutoCAD, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of power distribution and motor controls.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication/leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing capital budgets and bid processes.
• Manage and complete capital budget projects on-time and under budget.
• Install project equipment and train operations/maintenance personnel; develop SOPs and PMs.
• Evaluate equipment needs and recommend purchases to Plant Manager.
• Coordinate with Corporate Engineering on projects needing engineering support.
• Prepare annual facility audits and estimate expenditures and timelines.
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical failures and develop solutions.
• Develop and implement process control technology upgrades.
• Evaluate production problems and recommend changes to Plant Manager.
• Design or modify equipment to improve plant operations.
• Assess new equipment applications for manufacturing processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
