Job summary

Modern Machining Solutions Inc is seeking a Plant Manager in Storm Lake, Iowa to lead shop floor operations, drive production objectives at the lowest cost, and maintain high quality while meeting shipping schedules.

The role requires strong expertise in manufacturing methods, planning, and cost controls, with a proven track record in supervising teams. You will oversee capital projects, safety, and regulatory compliance, ensuring EBIT targets are achieved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management or Industrial Management.
• 10+ years in manufacturing with ≥4 years in a supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing methods, production planning, employee relations, and cost controls.
• Ability to assess, develop and deploy personnel.
• Strong communication, motivation, and leadership across all levels.
• Analytical and critical thinking with the ability to balance priorities.
• Proficient in PC-based spreadsheet programs.

Responsibilities

• Directs the manufacture and assembly of products at optimum costs while maintaining prescribed quality, accuracy and performance standards.
• Operates and manages to meet scheduled delivery dates with minimal WIP and ensures alignment with resources and capacity.
• Develops cost, scrap, rework and extra work reduction programs to improve EBIT.
• Controls quality, cost of production, inventory, shipping and receiving.
• Determines plant policies and directs application to manufacturing operations.
• Coordinates manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
• Ensures availability of raw materials and supplies for optimum efficiency.
• Confers with staff on methods and production standards.
• Reviews and approves machinery, equipment and buildings purchases.
• Oversees maintenance, plant security and protection.
• Participates in personnel policies and labor relations; ensures union status is maintained if applicable.
• Develops and reviews recommendations on personnel performance and promotions.
• Communicates directives and plans to the shop floor.
• Ensures safety and environmental compliance.
