Job summary

Granite Construction oversees plant operations in Utah, providing cost and engineering oversight to keep projects on schedule and in compliance with regulatory agencies. This internship/entry-level role focuses on determining production quantities, testing plans, and supporting maintenance and safety initiatives under the guidance of the Environmental Department and plant leadership.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of materials business.
• General knowledge of Hot Mix Asphalt plants (preferred).
• Knowledge of plant operations and mechanical requirements.
• Understanding of federal, state and local laws and procedures.
• Ability to engage with agencies and represent Granite publicly.
• Public speaking skills and effective communication with management.

Responsibilities

• Determine and calculate production quantities and report to management.
• Prepare and test SWPPPs and hazardous materials plans with Environmental Dept.
• Conduct operational improvement studies and recommend changes.
• Participate in safety audits and meetings to maintain a safe workplace.
• Plan maintenance and repairs of processing equipment and manage spare parts.
• Perform semi-annual inventory reconciliations for accuracy.
• Support plant leadership to ensure operational success.
