Job summary

Granite Construction seeks a Plant Engineer Intern to oversee plant operations and support cost and engineering activities across multiple locations, including Sacramento. The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency improvements.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in Mining or Mechanical Engineering, with 0-2 years in construction materials processing and a willingness to engage in maintenance planning and cost-based analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 0-2 years of construction materials processing experience.
• Knowledge of materials business, plant operations and mechanical requirements.
• Understanding of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Determine and calculate production quantities and communicate cost to produce to management.
• Prepare, implement and test SWPPPs and hazardous materials plans with Environmental Department.
• Suggest operational improvements to enhance efficiency of operations.
• Conduct safety audits and meetings to maintain a safe work environment.
• Prepare and prioritize maintenance and repairs of material processing equipment; manage spare parts inventories.
• Perform semi-annual inventory reconciliations for accuracy.
• Support plant manager, foreman and superintendents as needed.
