Job summary

Granite Construction in Reno, NV seeks a facilities-focused engineer/analyst to oversee plant operations, costs and regulatory compliance. You will support maintenance planning, participate in safety audits and drive improvements in processing efficiency.

Ideal candidates have 0-2 years in materials processing, with a bachelor’s in mining or mechanical engineering or related field. Internship/entry-level opportunities available at multiple sites nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent years of work experience.
• 0-2 years of construction materials processing experience.
• General knowledge of materials business.
• Knowledge of Plant operations and mechanical requirements.
• Public speaking skills and ability to communicate with management.

Responsibilities

• Determine and calculate production quantities and communicate to management to ensure understanding of cost to produce.
• Prepare, implement and test SWPPP’s and hazardous materials plans with Environmental Department for regulatory compliance.
• Conduct operational improvement studies and recommend modifications for efficiency.
• Participate in safety audits and meetings to maintain a safe working environment.
• Plan maintenance and repairs of material processing equipment and manage spare parts inventories.
• Perform semi-annual inventory reconciliations for accuracy.
• Support plant manager, foreman, and superintendents to ensure operational success.
