Job summary

Granite Construction offers internships and entry-level roles where you will provide plant oversight for cost and engineering activities, ensuring efficient operations and regulatory compliance. You will also handle SWPPP-related tasks with the Environmental Department and support leadership across the plant.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning in materials processing, maintenance planning, and safety, with a base hourly wage and opportunities to grow within a major national contractor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent years of work experience.
• 0–2 years of construction materials processing experience.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures; safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Determine production quantities and communicate cost to production management.
• Prepare, implement and test SWPPP’s and hazardous materials plans with Environmental Department.
• Perform operational improvement studies and recommend process modifications.
• Conduct safety audits and meetings to ensure a safe work environment.
• Prepare and prioritize maintenance/repairs of material processing equipment.
• Manage spare parts inventories for efficient repairs.
• Perform semi-annual inventory reconciliations.
• Support plant managers, foremen and superintendents to ensure success.
