Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Plant Operating Engineer to oversee maintenance and operation of the cogeneration facility at our New York site. The role requires ensuring safe, efficient plant performance and coordinating preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 5 years of relevant Experience.
• City of New York Engineers License for High Pressure Boilers, Engines and Pumps required.

Responsibilities

• Makes rounds to ensure preventive maintenance and repairs are performed to keep operations efficient and uninterrupted.
• Monitor and respond to operating conditions to maintain plant performance and output; perform preventive maintenance and manage fuel/material deliveries as needed.
• Operate valves and controllers; respond to field emergencies and perform lock out tag out as directed.
• Provide shift turnover and stay up-to-date with plant conditions by reviewing communications and log books.
• Respond to emergencies and troubleshoot to restore plant and building systems to safe operations.
• Prepare work orders for maintenance, record activities in the work order system, and ensure areas are cleaned and organized.
• Maintain licenses including steam operator, fire safety director, emergency action plan director, and others as required.
• Demonstrate leadership and adherence to NYU Langone Medical Center requirements.
