Job summary

Cleveland Steel Container in Detroit, MI seeks a Plant Mechanical Engineer to oversee mechanical engineering for our can manufacturing plant. You will support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment and processes, learning existing and new manufacturing processes to troubleshoot and improve equipment reliability.

You'll work with Production and Maintenance, establish spare parts programs, and collaborate with the Technical Center on upgrades and projects, ensuring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment with high-speed production equipment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise to Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and project teams.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and processes, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Maintenance to improve equipment reliability and support preventive maintenance.
• Establish and maintain critical spare parts lists for production lines.
• Participate in planning, engineering, installation, and modification of manufacturing equipment.
• Work with Technical Center, vendors, and contractors on projects and process improvements.
• Review and maintain mechanical drawings, equipment docs, and SOPs.
• Provide technical guidance and training on mechanical equipment.
