Job summary

Cleveland Steel Container is seeking a motivated Manufacturing Operator for our Detroit, MI facility. The role requires 1–3 years of equipment operation experience in a fast-paced environment and a high school diploma or GED.

You will work with a team to meet production, quality, and safety standards, learning our processes and supporting continuous improvement. We value reliability, teamwork, and a proactive approach to producing quality pails and cans while maintaining a clean and safe work

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of manufacturing machine operation experience, ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• 1-3 years of manufacturing mechanic / maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
• Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Ability to follow established procedures, safety guidelines, and operational instructions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and adjust manufacturing equipment and tooling to meet production, quality, and efficiency standards.
• Supply production lines with required materials and components to support schedules.
• Monitor equipment performance and production parameters to ensure quality output.
• Identify and communicate operational or quality issues promptly to supervisory personnel.
• Support and guide team members on basic production processes and quality checks.
• Follow established procedures and manufacturing guidelines with strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to set up, operate, and adjust manufacturing equipment and tooling to meet production, quality, and efficiency standards
• Capability to supply production lines with required materials and components to support manufacturing schedules
• Experience or ability to monitor equipment performance and production parameters to ensure consistent quality output
• Ability to identify and communicate operational or quality issues promptly to supervisory personnel
• Willingness to support and guide team members on basic production processes and quality checks
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow established procedures and manufacturing guidelines
• Willingness to learn product specifications, production processes, machine operations, and quality standards related to the manufacturing environment

Additional Responsibilities (as needed)

• Assist with product packaging and preparation for shipment
• Support inventory activities and cycle counts
• Participate in installation or setup of new equipment
• Assist with receiving and handling raw materials

Cleveland Steel Container was founded in 1963 to provide customers with a dependable steel pail. Currently, we have four pail plants located strategically throughout the United States to support our customers. At our Streetsboro, OH facility, we have a metal stamping plant to provide component parts for our pails. Our Youngstown, OH facility manufactures 1-gallon tin cans and our Detroit, MI facility manufactures various general line cans, such as F-Style, Gallon and Quart round cans. Our goal is to continuously provide our customers with quality pails through excellent service at an outstanding value. Finally, we make good pails and deliver them on time!
