Job summary

Silgan Containers Corp. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support design, installation, startup, and ongoing improvement of manufacturing equipment and processes.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Set-Up Technicians, and Vendors to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-efficient solutions, applying lean methods and robust documentation practices. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 0-5 years of mechanical design, equipment installation, startup, or project engineering; manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team and with vendors.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support for new and existing projects, automation, and equipment upgrades.
• Develop project scopes, manage engineering projects, and support workflow optimization.
• Design equipment layouts, coordinate with vendors, and oversee installation and commissioning.
• Contribute to preventative maintenance and reliability improvements; develop technical documentation.
