Job Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the plant to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness. This includes managing the plant’s performance metrics in areas such as safety, quality, cost reduction, and on-time delivery. The Plant Manager plays a key role in providing leadership, developing employees, and driving lean manufacturing techniques while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Deployment & Operational Management
- Implement and manage policies in the following areas:
- Lean manufacturing techniques
- Safety, ensuring OSHA compliance and proper use of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Quality control and assurance
- Cost reduction initiatives
- On-time delivery performance
- Customer satisfaction through communication of routing/process changes
- Employee relations and engagement
- Plant performance measures (KPIs)
- Plant cleanliness, both inside and outside of the facility
Employee Relations & Leadership
- Provide effective leadership and communication for employee relations.
- Coach, mentor, and train employees on best practices.
- Conduct regular employee training and development meetings.
- Identify employee strengths and weaknesses and facilitate cross-training and skill development.
- Perform performance evaluations and make employment decisions based on performance measures.
Planning & Workflow Management
- Review daily schedules with the scheduler and shipping department to ensure smooth workflow.
- Identify potential bottlenecks ahead of time and plan resources accordingly.
- Balance work capacity across the plant to maximize efficiency.
- Manage WIP (Work in Progress) inventory control, ensuring that overrun sheets and NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) do not accumulate.
Safety & Compliance
- Monitor and enforce the safety of all employees, including OSHA compliance.
- Train supervisors on accident investigation and reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with HR and EHS to ensure proper documentation and reporting of accidents or incidents.
Continuous Improvement & Performance Analysis
- Review and analyze low-performance items and develop strategies to improve.
- Develop methods to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve throughput.
- Oversee the development of new procedures and work instructions.
Maintenance Management
- Oversee and maintain the plant’s PM (Preventive Maintenance) schedule and audits.
- Train employees on work order input procedures.
- Ensure maintenance work orders are completed, signed off, and within budget.
- Monitor and maintain the monthly maintenance budget.
Other Responsibilities
- Work to reduce plant overtime without compromising productivity.
- Assist in defining capital investments and improvements for the plant.

Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Plant Manager or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years of experience in a Production Supervisor or similar role
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and improve operational processes.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance.
- Experience with inventory control, scheduling, and capacity planning.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Amtech or similar job costing, and order processing systems is a plus.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
