Job description

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Responsible for managing all manufacturing occurring at the Fernando’s Plant, including maintenance, sanitation and shipping and receiving to meet or exceed Company goals and standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s polices and applicable laws.
  • Participate with entire Operations Group in the total planning process, including capital requirements, budgeting and manpower development for future growth of our business.
  • Establish direction and target for the Fernando’s Plant by developing short-term and long-term goals for Production needs and monitor the results of cost and quality systems to insure profit margins.
  • Apply leadership to develop personnel and systems that will make/keep the manufacturing operation an industry leader in terms of cost and quality; ensure engineering support for expansions and new methods.
  • Provide direction to ensure comprehensive employee safety programs are aligned with Company’s goals and values.
  • Assure the support of the Technical Department and Engineering by assisting in product development, quality assurance, engineering systems and equipment to provide future profitability and growth as required by the Manufacturing Division.
  • Develop new product and processes in conjunction with Marketing and USDA compliance with SSOP and HACCP programs.
  • Maintain reliable work force and positive union relations and demonstrate knowledge of EEO policy to provide a harassment-free work environment.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must have a B.S./B.A. in Business Management (or related field)
    • Must have eight to ten (8-10) years of progressively responsible management experience in the food processing industry, preferably in the frozen food industry/ready to eat facility
    • Must demonstrate financial understanding to include budgeting, staffing and cost analysis
    • Must have a proven track record of promoting and creating a safe work environment
    • Must exhibit strong leadership skills/internal drive to succeed
    • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand English; Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
    • Must be able to evaluate supervision and employee issues fairly and objectively
    • Must be able to manage/adjust quickly to a changing work environment to meet changing production needs
    • Must have advanced problem solving, independent decision making and strong analytical skills
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Operational programs
    • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check
