Job Description: Plant Manager

Position Overview:

The Plant Manager of IMH Products’ Columbia Avenue, Indianapolis facility will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of customer focus, safety, quality and operational efficiency. Reporting to the President of our company, this position involves leading the Production, Quality, Shipping/Receiving, and Maintenance functions of the plant. This role manages and optimizes the plant’s manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer expectations. The Plant Manager more granularly focuses on coaching departmental leadership and building a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and implementing process optimization strategies. In addition, this role collaborates with the business development team to further enhance relationships with strategic business partners.

Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership:

· Develop and communicate a strategic vision for the plant, aligning day-to-day operations with long-term business objectives.

· Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

· Implement innovative approaches to enhance overall operational efficiency, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or challenges that may impede productivity.

· Identify and nurture high-potential employees, creating pathways for internal promotion and long-term retention.

· Establish and enforce clear performance standards, ensuring employees adhere to company policies and operational guidelines. Foster a culture of accountability by setting clear expectations and providing constructive feedback to employees at all levels.

· Address performance issues promptly and effectively through structured coaching, progressive discipline, and corrective action plans. Work closely with HR to implement fair and consistent disciplinary procedures, maintaining a high-performance work environment.

· Promote a culture of respect, professionalism, teamwork and professional accountability in terms of conduct, work ethic and job performance.

· Collaborate with the business development team to attract new customers and enhance existing relationships.

2. Resource Management:

· Strategically coordinate the allocation of resources across departments to meet production schedules, optimizing workforce and equipment utilization.

· Oversee and enhance training programs for operational staff, focusing on skill development and performance improvement.

· Collaborate closely with HR and hiring teams to develop and implement comprehensive hiring and training plans that align with the organization's strategic goals.

3. Operational Oversight:

· Utilize advanced analytics to monitor and evaluate departmental performance metrics, regularly reporting findings and implementing improvement initiatives.

· Anticipate operational challenges and proactively develop solutions to maintain efficiency and productivity.

· Lead initiatives to improve workflow, reduce downtime, and optimize production planning for future growth.

· Develop contingency plans for workforce, supply chain disruptions, and capacity planning to ensure long-term sustainability.

· Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, employing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize processes and eliminate waste.

4. Process Optimization:

· Collaborate with department heads to identify and integrate cutting-edge technologies for process optimization and automation.

· Spearhead initiatives to reduce lead times, increase production output, and improve overall manufacturing agility.

· Foster innovation and collaboration to streamline manufacturing processes, with a specific focus on improving ease of production.

5. Quality Assurance:

· Maintain a strong partnership with the Quality and Engineering department, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 quality management standards.

· Oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive measures to address quality issues, actively participating in the evolution of the quality management system.

· Stay informed about industry trends and customer requirements, ensuring that products consistently meet or exceed these standards.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

· Minimum of 7 years of Proven experience in a senior operations role within the metal fabrication or similar industry.

· Proven ability to lead, coach, and drive teams toward operational excellence, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.

· Demonstrated success in implementing lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Strong knowledge of metal fabrication techniques.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· In-depth understanding of quality control standards and safety regulations in metal fabrication.

· Strategic thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts.

· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

· High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive, supportive atmosphere.
