Job Summary & Responsibilities

Plant Managers are key leaders within POET, responsible for all plant operations and production goals at their location. This on-site role in Shelbyville, IN, involves working closely with the leadership team, ensuring safety, building and leading teams, maintaining regulatory compliance, collaborating on operational efficiencies, managing budgets, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Foster a culture where safety is non-negotiable.
  • Lead a team including engineers, operations, EHS, and maintenance.
  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and engage team members.
  • Ensure compliance with agencies like BATF, OSHA, USDA, FDA, EPA, and state organizations.
  • Collaborate with other Plant Managers to optimize operations.
  • Identify and justify capital improvements.
  • Develop and present the plant’s strategic plan.
  • Assist with budget and cost control.
  • Communicate key metrics and partner with maintenance for preventative plans.
  • Lead root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Align teams with organizational and business goals.
  • Lead recruitment, training, performance management, and career development.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, or extensive processing plant experience.
  • Leadership experience in team building, coaching, and performance management.
  • Champion of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Technical aptitude for biofuels production processes.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Experience with DCS control, PI Historian, and MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and rally teams around organizational goals.

Additional Requirements

  • Engage with community and team events.
  • Ability to drive POET vehicles; pre-employment MVR check required.
  • Availability for 24-hour schedule, some travel possible.
  • Prepared for a dynamic work environment with physical and chemical exposure risks.
