Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Omaha, NE is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep our processing plant running safely and efficiently. You’ll apply expertise in general maintenance, hydraulic and electrical systems, and light welding to support production and ensure uptime.

You’ll follow LOCKOUT/TAGOUT and GMPs, work in a team, and may operate forklifts and other PITs. This role offers competitive hourly wages starting at $24.90 and up, with a $0.75 shift differential for night shifts, relocation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years in industrial mechanical maintenance or 4 years of related experience.
• Vocational/Technical Diploma or associate degree preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and cooperate with contractors.
• Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other PIT.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Maintenance & Repairs: perform daily PMs and keep production lines in top mechanical condition.
• Maintain, inspect, and test machinery; diagnose problems and restore functionality.
• Dismantle and repair equipment; replace parts; clean and lubricate components.
• Teamwork & Support: assist production and quality teams and take on additional duties as needed.
