Job summary

Smithfield Foods, a leading American meat company, seeks a highly skilled Maintenance Lead to oversee maintenance teams and ensure continuous production in our Minnesota plant.

The role focuses on predictive and preventive maintenance, TPM, and safety compliance, with responsibilities including developing maintenance systems, tracking KPIs, and coordinating with Production. Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading/trainings for staff or managing a project.
• Ammonia refrigeration, high pressure boiler, and electrical/mechanical knowledge sought.
• Familiar with maintenance systems, work orders, TPM, and scheduling software.
• Strong leadership, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Good planning, prioritization, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual is preferred.
• Long hours and weekends may be required.

Responsibilities

• Leads maintenance teams in predictive and preventive maintenance and machine repair.
• Develops and maintains maintenance systems, processes and documentation.
• Schedules maintenance with Production to accomplish repairs.
• Develops KPIs for tracking maintenance performance.
• Provides long-term and day-to-day troubleshooting support.
• Trains employees on work methods and safety procedures.
• Ensures tasks comply with USDA regulations.
• Maintains records of maintenance work and inventory.
• Provides regular status reports to maintenance management.
• In absence of key personnel, delegates tasks as needed.
