Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a Lead Industrial Engineer to drive productivity in our manufacturing teams. You will lead IE efforts to improve ergonomics, safety, and workflow while partnering with production, union representatives, and plant leadership to deliver efficiency gains.

You will coach IEs and CI specialists, manage headcount and labor-cost initiatives, and plan staffing with a focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering is required.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in industrial engineering.
• Demonstrated experience managing engineers.
• Ability to identify root causes and partner with production to implement changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead IE efforts to improve ergonomics, safety, workstation setup, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Production, Health and Safety, hourly employees, team leaders, and union reps.
• Lead and coach IEs and CI Specialists in productivity improvements: line balancing, rebalancing, throughput gains, operator utilization.
• Identify and lead headcount and labor-cost reduction initiatives; publish monthly reports by area.
• Manage manpower planning, daily reporting, weekly roll analyses, and training alignment.
• Support hiring and posting activities in partnership with union representatives.
• Plan workstation, allocation, mix, and line-speed changes to maximize efficiency.
• Lead cycle-line layout development and future-model labor planning.
• Guide time-study planning and execution (MODAPTS) and IE training across the plant.
• Promote continuous improvement and waste elimination through Kaizen and low-cost automation.
• Represent the plant on the National Ergonomics Committee and lead safety/ergonomics initiatives.
• Monitor monthly progress in VPOS and support labor-efficiency targets and reporting.
